On the weekend of January 12-14, 2018, the University of Kansas Department of Physics and Astronomy hosted a regional American Physical Society (APS) Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP) meeting for undergraduate physics majors in the central region of the United States. Our region includes Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. The meeting was held at the University of Kansas campus in the Kansas Memorial Union.

Chi and Fan volunteered at the meeting by hosting a table representing Dept. of Geology during the Network Fair. Our research group is committed to an open, diverse, and inclusive learning and research environment. Align with CUWiP's goal, we believe that an array of values, interests, experiences, and intellectual and cultural viewpoints will not only make us special, but also enrich our participation in research and study.

Connor has been selected as one of 5 KU undergraduate students to present his research in Topeka on February 14, 2018. Connor's research stood out from a strong application pool - again, only 5 students from KU! Connor will join his peers from the other Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) public four-year universities to present his research on 'Near Surface Geophysical Monitoring of Organic Contaminants' to legislators and other members of state government. For more information about Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol, check this link here. https://ugresearch.ku.edu/student/share/capitol#. And this is featured in KU news.

Congratulations, Connor!
